Gene, Thank you for preserving the jazz organ for a new generation to enjoy. I've recently been inspired to purchase my first "clone-wheel" organ (for practical reasons I can't get a real B3 yet), but I hope to take inspiration and bring organ into my blues and jazz playing. Gene, I can't thank you enough for all the support you have so unselfishly given me. You are truly one of the greastest B-3 artists the world has ever seen. I first saw Gene Ludwig around 1965, when I was 17, as I peeked through the side door at The Wonder Gardens in Atlantic City only to see some guy playing the organ backwards. I've told that story ever since. It was a great experience to see Gene once again at the Jam Session tribute for Jimmy Smith in Philadelphia at the Clef Club. Man, he sounds just as good as he did then. A true ledgend.

Hi, Gene! It was great to finally meet you at Jimmy's funeral. I only wish it could have been under happier circumstances. Your playing was utterly classy at Jimmy's memorial, and I've been waiting to hear you play live for so long. I have put up a website, jamesoscarsmith.blogspot.com, for folks who knew Jimmy, and worked with him, to share their stories of his life and music. I hope you'll find time to share one of your great stories with us, and all of Jimmy's fans.
